Trend: Malted Beverages 2.0
(beveragemanager.net) - Many beverage companies are not just the “mixers” or “bottlers”, but are very close to the product and the customers. For many decades, the globally small, but top-selling, highly technological branch of the additives industry has been supporting the actual beverage producers as suppliers and partners.
The implementation of processes as complex as those required to “invent” new drinks, for example, like an energy drink, a new type of soft drink or a mixed-beer drink requires more than just market research and innovative management in a producing company, especially because the development process of successful foods and beverages these days requires the use of new yet natural basic ingredients and additives, which are usually analyzed and produced by globally active specialists upstream from the actual production of the finished product.
According to Döhler’s market research, the global market volume increased in 2010 to approximately 1.7 billion liters. In order to meet the increased demand for malt bases, the company started operations in 2010 at an additional facility equipped with the latest technology in Germany.
Due to the expanded capacities, the company can now increasingly supply breweries that are trying to produce malt beverages in a cost-effective manner. In addition, Döhler has developed isotonic soft drinks on a malt base in a wide, fruity variety of flavors because malt (which is rich in minerals, proteins, and vitamins) is the ideal basis for sports-positioned drinks.
