Krones Group achieves turnaround with a substantial plus

By: Renzo Ruf, BMG

The German packaging and bottling machine manufacturer reports increased sales in H1. Sales were up 16.4% and new orders were up 26.4%.

Krones Group has benefitted as the global economy recovers from its deep recession, the company announced. Sales revenues showed a year-on-year increase of 10.6% in the first quarter of 2010. Growth accelerated in the period from April to June. At €543 million, second-quarter sales were up 22.8% from a year earlier. All told, sales rose 16.4% in the first half of 2010 to €1,076 million.  From January to June 2010, the company reported earnings before taxes (EBT) totaling €32.0 million, following a loss of €15.8 million in the previous year.  The company reported that sales in Germany are down, but are up in the rest of Europe. The primary force driving growth was in Asia, Africa and South America, though. (bmg)
